Textured Movement- Texture is in, especially since the “lob” made a comeback this summer, giving your layers movement creates a fun relaxed look thats easy to style. First, shampoo and condition your hair with something replenishing and tailored to your hair type. Since we are going to be creating texture, we want the hair to be a little more tamed in the beginning so it doesn't get too crazy, or frizzy. We love Davines’ MINU shampoo for colored hair because it helps restore any damage to the hair, enhances the quality of the color and provides an illuminating glow. After washing, blow dry your hair. We recommend using a larger round brush to keep the hair smooth and polished without adding any curl. ** A tip from the Pro's-Get your hair three quarters of the way dry before using a brush, you want the ends of the hair to be almost dry. Saves time and provides more control. Then, if needed, flat iron any pieces that need extra smoothing or help with movement. Be careful to not remove all of the body from the hair that we just added with the blow dry! Lastly, add your texture product. We recommend Davines’ Medium Hold Pliable Paste.  Squeeze a dime sized amount of product into the palm of your hand. Emulsify it between your palms by rubbing your hands together then begin grabbing pieces around the face and with a shaking motion move your hands throughout the rest of the hair. Add a couple sprits of the Light Hold Anti-Humidity Hairspray  and done!

“Natural” Beach Waves-Life would be wonderful if all you had to do was wash your hair, emerge from the water like a mermaid and let it air dry into its natural beautiful beach waves. If you're the lucky percentage of population with this kind of hair, be grateful. For the rest of us, here’s how to fake it. First, shampoo your hair with something that encourages volume. We recommend Davines’ Volu Shampoo, it gives great volume to the hair. Then, condition with something light. We recommend Davines’ Dede conditioner because of how hydrating yet light weight it is. Then apply the a curl serum. Davines’ Curl Building serum is one of our favorites because the non-stick formula and intense hydration creates very defined light curls. Then diffuse your hair. If you need a refresher on diffusing refer to our post Beat the Heat. Once the hair is dry, curls any funky pieces and around the face using a wand or flat iron. Both hot tools create more of a wave than a traditional curling iron. Mist the ends of the hair with Sea Salt Spray for more texture. Finish with a Light Hold Anti-Humidity Hairspray to prevent any extra frizz.

Sleek Finish-Living in the South has many benefits, once of which being the nice warm weather. The down side to the nice temperature, humidity. Humidity and your hair are not friends. Often the humidity can cause the hair to seem like it is growing at an unstoppable rate and you being to believe you're going to be eaten alive by your own hair. Well, fear not! Here is how to achieve a sleek finish style despite the summer weather. Shampoo and Condition with something smoothing. We love Davines’ Love Smooth shampoo and conditioner because of the extra smooth finish the olive oil extra gives to the hair. Then before blow drying apply a smoothing cream or serum. Davines’ Love Smooth Hair Smoother really smoothes out the hair without leaving any residue and keeps the hair soft and shiny. We recommend spraying the hair with a heat protectant because we are going to be applying heat to the hair. Davines’ Melu Shield is specifically formulated to protect the hair from hair dryers and flat irons. Blow dry your hair using a large round brush and really concentrate on getting the hair dry while blowing the hair down onto the brush to assure smoothness. Once dry, Flat iron your hair. Apply a little bit of oil if needed for any extra fly aways, Davines Oi/ Absolute Beautifying Potion is our favorite. Spray with Light Hold Anti-Humidity Hairspray and you're ready to go!

Tousled Curls- A great look for any occasion day or night, heres how to create a timeless tousled curls style. Shampoo and Condition the hair with something nourishing but not too heavy. We recommend something like Davines’ Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle shampoo and conditioner, it improves compatibility and helps make the hair structure even. Before blow drying, add a palm sized dollop of a volumizing mousse like the Volume Boosting Mousse by Davines. Really work the mousse in at the roots and mid shaft of the hair to provide lift while drying. We recommend applying a little bit of a serum, like Davines’ Invisible Serum, to the ends to help smooth out any frizziness and to provide a little slip while blow drying. Blow dry with a smaller round brush. Depending on the length of your hair you'll want to use a brush with a diameter from 1/2” to 2 1/2”. Remember the diameter of the brush will be the diameter of the curl, so think about how tight you would like the curl to be when determining your brush.

Blow dry by smoothing out the mid shaft, lifting the hair to create volume at the root, really curling the ends with brush and once the each strand is dry wind the hair up in the brush and apply heat from the blow dryer for 7 seconds then release heat and allow hair and brush to cool before removing brush. When dry, if needed curl pieces with a curling iron the same diameter as the brush you used to blow dry. Spray with Medium Hold Anti-Humidity hair spray and your off!
