Fall Makeup Line

10/14/2017

One of my favorite things about living in North Carolina is being able to enjoy all four seasons. As the seasons change, so does our wardrobe. Getting festive with some lowlights and scarves are just easy ways to get festive. Magazine covers incorporate more fall tones such as oranges and browns. Our favorite makeup line, Jane Iredale, has injected some festive colors into their new line. Here's what they rolled out this fall season.

Horror Of Hot Water

10/12/2017

With the changing of the season comes cold weather. With cold weather comes sweaters, fuzzy socks, and hot cocoa. One of my favorite things to do in the colder seasons is take a long,  hot shower. The warmth of the water and steam feel so amazing after being out in the cold. While the steam can help clear our skin and sinuses, there are some downsides to an excessive amount of hot water. All that heat can dry out your hair and skin, so follow up that warm shower with a cool rinse to lock in moisture!

Dry Skin

Hot water dries out the skin and can leave it irritated and even cause rashes. Despite being immersed in water, the heat washes away the natural oils protecting the skin. The warm water will contract the skin leaving it dry and causing it to crack.

Not so Hot Hair

Hot water is great to get your hair clean, opening your cuticle allowing your shampoo and conditioner to get in and out. However, if you aren't following with a cool rinse, your hair will be left feeling dry and frizzy. This will allow your hair to feel more dry and frizzy. Using hot water from start to finish keeps the cuticle wide open allowing your color molecules to escape. For longer lasting color, use cooler water. The effects of this are beautiful! When your cuticle is down, your hair is softer, silkier, and less frizzy.

While those piping hot baths are so tempting as temperatures drop, keep in mind the effects it may have on your hair and skin. If cool showers aren't your thing, at least consider a cool rinse. Your body is beautiful so take care of it!

The wonderful season comes with amazing things; warm sweaters, spiced lattes, season premieres, and new trends. But it also come with downfalls; cold winds drying out your face, allergies, and fluctuating weather. The season comes with its own skin care needs and that just calls for a facial!
Fortunately for you, Orrell offers fall facial specials using some festive products.

The Spiced Cider Facial has a beautiful medley of fall scents such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and crisp apples. Apples are high in Vitamin C and contain potent antioxidants as well as naturally-occurring malic acid (AHA) to assist in exfoliation. It will hydrate, firm, and improve skin tone and suppleness
