Natural hair tips for Summer!

  1. Moisturizing - When it comes to natural hair, moisturizing is one of the most important routines that should be met to maintain natural healthy hair. Your curls need moisture!! And water is that moisture you will need. Spritz in the hair in the morning, noon, and night could never hurt the hair or dry it out, it will only help the hair from getting too dry in this very hot weather.
  2. Protective Styles - There are so many protective hairstyles that can prevent frizz and minimize shrinkage, like braided styles and twist. These styles help keep the moisture and can prevent split ends. Two strand twists are a great example for a protective style that can help define your natural curls but also be easy to maintain.
  3. Oil Rinse - This routine can be done while in the shower. You can apply any type of oil that you like the best, for example olive oil, or coconut oil. After shampooing your hair with a hydrating shampoo like our MoMo shampoo you will then ring out all of the water out of your hair and begin to apply the oil from ends to root and then condition your hair. This oil rinse will surely make your hair moisturizers and soft but not greasy and weighed down.
  4.  Leave In Conditioner - When you have been exposing your hair to the sun and heat it's always a must to apply a leave in conditioning treatment that replenishes moisture back into the hair. Even if some of you ladies don't like a lot of product left on the hair it wouldn't hurt to leave a conditioning mask like our NouNou mask on the hair for 10 - 15 minutes and proceed to rise it out. The hair will still feel and look great but most importantly have what it needs so it won't dry out in the day.
  5.  Get Rid Of Dead Ends - Split, damaged ends will do you more bad than good by continuing to split up the hair shaft and not retain moisture. So it's best to say goodbye to those frizzy ends. A great way you can tell that it's time for a trim is by noticing if your hair has frizzy ends, tangles , knots and how dry it is. The hair will all around start to look a little unhealthy and that should be the perfect time to cut your ends. By doing so a great hair trim will give you a new start on a healthy hair out look. It's never really easy trying to take care of our natural hair and I know this myself being natural for 8 years. You will come across so many different hair products and hair styles you can kind of forget why you became natural in the first place, which is to have beautiful healthy hair and I hope these tips I give you today can be a start of encouraging you that you can do it!
