With warmer weather moving in, summer hair is back. This year the “natural” look is the hair trend to compliment the 70’s influence this season. I for one am not waking up a clean faced beauty with voluminous beach curls. Lets get real— Even a natural look needs some preparation. Here's how to tame that mane:
Volu-Ideal for fine or limp hair for increased volume. Its formula, characterized by a soft and airy foam, is designed to gently cleanse the hair making it soft and light, and giving body and volume. 2. Apply Product. We suggest using a serum or a mousse to enhance natural curl and volume. Products we suggest and love: Curl Building Serum-Ideal for a look with defined, bouncy curls. Enhances curls in wavy hair, gives elasticity to curls, defines without weighing down, natural glossy effect, anti-frizz effect and humidity resistant. Distribute evenly on damp hair. *Professional Tip for Serums: Flip your hair over and apply your product starting in the back of your hair and working it through the ends. Curl Moisturizing Mousse-Creamy, compact mousse, light to the touch and long-lasting. Its texture is similar to whipped cream. Apply evenly to towel-dried hair. Proceed with the desired styling. It can be applied to dry hair as a moisturizing finishing product. Volu Hair Mist-Ideal for all types of hair requiring volume. Its leave-on formula is recommended for volumizing hair from its base.It adds volume leaving the hair soft and shiny without weighting the hair down. Apply to towel dried hair after using Volu shampoo. Do not rinse off. To increase volume, spray the product on lengths and ends. 3. Style. Now The point of this look is to require the minimum amount of heat on the hair. Solution? The Diffuser. After the product is applied to the hair, Misa suggest twisting the hair into small sections to enhance curl and provide support for curls in naturally straight hair. Use the Diffuser on max heat and minimum speed. Gather the ends of the hair into the diffuser and scrunch them up into the diffuser against your scalp. The beginning of the styling process should focus on drying the roots. In a circular motion place the diffusers teeth agains the scalp and slowly move the roots of the hair around. Getting the roots to dry in an upright position will create more volume. Plus it feels like an awesome head massage. Once the roots are dry, begin to concentrate on the ends of the hair. In a scrunching motion, gather the ends of the hair into the diffuser and lightly move the blow dryer upward towards the scalp. Once the hair is 85% dry, remove heat and let the hair breathe. Then apply a little more serum or mousse to control frizziness. Letting the hair air dry 15% gives the hair more of an airy look. Yingzi suggests “dirtying up” hair that is fine, limp or naturally straight. Apply dry shampoo and sea salt spray after styling to leave texture and give hold. Dry shampoo will help the hair hold volume at the roots and ends and the Sea Salt spray will create a sticky surface allowing the hair texturize itself and keeping fine hairs from sticking together. Sea Salt Spray-Styling spray made of sea salt that gives the hair fullness and body with a matte finish. Provides texture, extreme volume, light control, dry effect — tousled and beach-like waves, body while minimizing the electrostatic effect. Spray to wet hair before styling to give body or to dry hair to increase the volume and the mat effect. Hair Refresher-Creates a full-bodied volume without weighing the hair down. Hair is scented and soft as though it was just washed! Spray into dry hair at the roots and throughout the ends. Check back next week for more tutorials and tips from the professionals at Orrell!
